Autumn Wedding Invitations – Capture The Colors Of The Season

If you�re marrying in the fall, autumn wedding invitations might be just what you�re looking for. Usually when people think of autumn, they think of colors first of all. Then of the crunching of leaves, the bite of a chilly wind, the smell of a campfire or chimney smoke, and the warmth of a good cup of coffee on a cool fall morning. You can incorporate all of these feelings into your wedding invitations just by using some of the colors and textures of the fall. Here is some inspiration for your fall wedding invitations.

Go with images

Autumn is a very visual time, so it can be a good idea to start with some images for your wedding invitations. Look back on family pictures taken in the autumn, or get free pictures from an image library such as iStockphoto.com or Dreamstime.com Scan through these images for inspiration, whether of shapes, colors, or overall themes.

You can pick out individual elements of the pictures, like pumpkins, falling leaves, or bits of frost on the windowpane, to use in your invitations.

You can also just think about an overall feel for autumn to use in your invitations. Use bold, mellow colors, rounded edges, and natural looking fibers, for instance.

Create your own motifs and shapes

Instead of using full-blown images, why not use silhouettes that you find in your autumn photos. For instance, you might use the silhouettes of several falling leaves on a background of gold or green. You could also use the shapes and colors of pumpkins and gourds to make unique, down-to-earth invitations.

Choose the right colors

However, using the colors is probably the easiest way to recall the season in your guests� minds. Use different textures

Many autumn wedding invitations use a variety of textures for an interesting look. Normally, we associate fall with rustic life, and handmade papers with bits of fiber and unfinished edges can keep this rustic feel. Smooth vellum paper is more elegant, and it can look a bit like frost over golden autumn leaves.

Use falling leaves

Of course, leaves are one of the best ways to work fall into your invitations. You can buy premade skeletal leaves from a craft store. Alternatively, use stickers or stamps in the shapes of leaves, or even create your own background paper by laying a sheet over several leaves in different shapes and sizes and rubbing over it lightly with a crayon.
