Beach wedding decorations can really be split into two camps. The first being the romantic and sophisticated camp and the second being the fun, party camp. So depending on what type of wedding you're having will depend on the type of beach decorations you choose, read on to find out more.

Romantic beach wedding decorations

For the romantic and sophisticated bride, there are lots of lovely ways to decorate your beach wedding. Since you're in a natural environment, it only makes sense to use natural items around you.

Think about flowers, plants and trees to bring contrast to the white sand and blue ocean. Plants and flowers will really stand out against a bright back drop and they're the easiest ways to decorate your beach wedding.

Palm leaves are big and incredibly versatile as a base for your flowers, or to enhance tikis, canopies, garlands or denoting a walkway. Bright flowers such as roses, lilies, orchids or birds of paradise will all look stunning too. Speak to your florist about how you can bring your beach to life with flowers and plants.

Bring nature to your tables as well and decorate them with seashells, starfish and sand. There are numerous ways you can do this from favors, table decorations to table centerpieces. Check out the photos below for some inspiration.

Create a soft and romantic feel to your beach wedding decorations by using delicate fabrics and soft lighting. Tulle works well on the backs of chairs, edges of tables and around canopies to give a lovely delicate touch. You could add a few flowers or some ribbon to make it look really pretty too.

Add candles to the mix to create soft lighting. These will be essential as the sun goes down and if you use ones with citronella, you'll keep the mosquitoes at bay too.

There are endless ideas around for beach themed tea light and candle holders. Starfish, seashells and fish all make frequent appearances, alternatively you could just use plain glass holders and fill them with natural or colored sand. You can also use tea lights to make pathways so your route back to your hotel is clearly light and incredibly romantic!

Fun and party style beach wedding decorations

For some, getting married on the beach is all about bringing back those party days and there are a host of wedding decorations to suit this style too. These ideas work better for indoor receptions, where there are more places to hang the items.

You could take boogey boards and surf boards and lean them against the wall. Fishing nets, buoys, oars and lobster pots would all work well hanging from a wall or as a corner showpiece. Coupled with sand and some well placed shells and starfish and you've got a stunning focal point.

You can use fairy lights to bring a little mood lighting and drape seashell garlands around the room. Tea lights and candles can be littered about on tables and placed in a host of different style holders (which could also double up as your beach wedding favors).

For a more tropical theme, introduce grass skirts and silk flower leis along with tropical flowers and fruits.
