Simple Calla Lily Wedding Invitation
"Create an elegant and sophisticated look with this calla lily wedding invitation"
I really like the simplicity of this calla lily wedding invitation. Using pearlescent vellums and angel hair to add sheen and texture, the calla lilies in the centre look very elegant in deed. It’s finished off with a script style greeting slightly raised off the card. This invitation is really quick and easy to make. A good choice if you’re lacking in time.
Level of ease: Really easy Cost: About £50 ($90) for 50 invitations
For this calla lily wedding invitation you’ll need: • Textured card blank • Pearlescent vellum • Ivory angel hair • 2 calla lily embellishments • Wedding invitation greeting • Roller glue stick • Foam adhesive • Clear liquid glue
Recommended insert: Cream pearlescent vellum paper using a
traditional insert template.
Step-by-step instructions
1. First of all, cut the vellum to size. I’ve used a 4” x 6” card blank and cut the vellum to be 9cm x 14cm, so that it sits 0.5cm in from each side of the card blank.
2. Secure the vellum to the card blank with a very small amount of clear liquid glue. You can use the roller glue, but you’ll be able to see it through the vellum.
3. Next, tear the angel hair to be roughly 8cm x 10cm. Position the angel hair so that it’s square to the top of the vellum paper, but about 0.5cm in from the edge. You should have about 3cm at the bottom. You’ll put your greeting here in a minute.
4. Now position the calla lilies where you want them on the angel hair. I’ve placed mine fairly central. When you’re happy with your position, place some clear glue on the back of the lilies. Do this away from the rest of the card just in case the glue stretches or drips! Then position the lilies in your chosen place.
5. Next, cut out your wedding invitation greeting. Then attach two small squares of foam adhesive to the back of the greeting – this will give it a raised appearance on the card.
6. Then place some roller glue on the foam sections and secure the greeting on the card.
Tip: always put the glue on the object you want to secure. Never place the glue on the area where you’re attaching the object. This prevents excess glue and dangerous drips falling on your design!
