First and foremost, think about your flowers. Speak to your florist about the types and colors of flowers you'd like and ask their advice on the best way to decorate the space in the church. Local florists will be better equipped to help you as they're more likely to be familiar with the space. Flowers can be used to decorate the altar, the pulpit, the aisle and the entrance. They can brighten up dark corners and be placed on window sills to lift walls and make a feature of windows. Your budget will dictate how many arrangements you can have, so again check this with your florist. Petals can be scattered on the pews to create romantic setting and as you enter, your flower girl can scatter the petals in front of you. This looks great whether you laid down an aisle runner or not. If you do use an aisle runner, think about the colors of your wedding theme and match it that. You don't have to use fresh flowers all the time. You can mix and match with silk and dried flowers, which might allow your budget to go a bit further. Silk flowers you can easily sell on and dried flowers are easy to get hold of too. Dried flowers work particularly well to add scent to a church. As church wedding decorations, the scented versions such as lavender or rose petals, can be placed in little organza bags and left on the benches. One wedding I went to had these little lavender bags and they scent they gave off was divine! If you're using rose petals, then your guests can throw it later as confetti too! Plants Candles If you want plenty of candles, fill up the candle racks first, then look for window sills, additional candle stands and think about placing candles in your flower arrangements too. Tea lights are cheap and effective, particularly if you have them in a sturdy, but pretty holder. (You can take these to the venue after the ceremony, if you're looking to make your budget stretch a bit further.)
