Inspiration For Your Destination Wedding Invitations
When you are planning your destination wedding invitations what better place to find
inspiration than your beautiful location. Including elements of your destination
as a part of your invitation not only looks great, but it sets up the theme for your wedding.
Destination weddings often have a feeling of fun, they can be less formal than a traditional
wedding and both the couple and their guests will feel much more at ease. With this in mind
don't be afraid to get a little creative with your invitation ideas.
So maybe you're looking for some great
inspiration
for your destination wedding invitations? You want to do something special, but have no
idea where to start. There are heaps of great ideas here you can use, just add your own
personal touches.
A Vegas wedding
Viva Las Vegas! Vegas is perhaps one of the most popular choices of wedding destinations.
There are heaps of fun and unique ways to get married there, and plenty of activities for your
guests to enjoy. Here are some ideas for your Vegas destination wedding invitations.
Many hotels and casinos have posters of upcoming performers and shows. Find a poster for a
hotel you are staying in, or a nearby casino, and modify the performers names to your own and
that of your bridal party.
Find a picture of an airplane ticket or create a fake one using a graphics package.
Change the dates and times to your wedding, include your name and mark the destination
city as 'Our Vegas Wedding'. You could use these kind of destination wedding invitations
for other locations.
Use the casino as your inspiration! You could have a picture of a roulette table with
your faces on the chips. You could also have a slot machine with your faces on two of the
slots and a pair of wedding rings interlocked in the middle.
If you have taken a great photo of Las Vegas you could use that as your invite. Pair
it up with some clever wording like, 'We've rolled a lucky seven and are heading to Vegas
to say our vows.'
Tuscany
Is there a better place for a romantic wedding than the rolling hills of Tuscany?
Here are some great Italian ideas for your destination wedding invitations.
- Use the Tuscan landscape as your inspiration. Giant sunflowers, cyprus trees
on the horizon or grapes hanging from vines could be featured in your design.
- Have a great photo you took in Italy? Why not let that feature as a part
of your destination wedding invitations? If there is something about Italy that attracted you there
you could also find a photo or picture of that. Perhaps you love roman architecture, vineyards or
Vespa scooters.
- Include an Italian poem or phrase. Have a look online to see if there
is something you like. If you can't find anything then simply take a poem in English and have it
translated.
- Think of the colors of Tuscany when designing your destination wedding
invitations. The bright yellow of sunflowers, the green and deep red of vineyards and the terra
cotta villas.
Caribbean
A Caribbean wedding has it all. Beautiful scenery, a great climate and a huge choice of great
places to have your ceremony and reception.
- Bright and bold colors are a part of Caribbean culture. Don't be afraid
to be a little daring with your invitation color scheme. Red, green and yellow are all often seen
together in the Caribbean.
- A fun idea is to theme your Caribbean wedding around pirates.
Your invites could be scrolls, treasure maps or feature the two of you dressed up as characters
in the film, Pirates of the Caribbean.
- It's hard to think about the Caribbean without imagining a palm tree.
You could use palm trees as part of the design, or even stick dried palm leaves to the corner of
each invite as decoration.
- Caribbean art and music has become popular around the world. You could
quote a lyric from a Caribbean musician you both like, or if you were inspired by a piece of art
then you could use a picture of it on postcard style destination wedding invitations
with the details of the wedding on the back.
Beach Wedding
Whether you are staying near or traveling far, a beach wedding is always beautiful.
What better location to tie the knot than in nature's own beautiful setting.
- Be inspired by your seaside locale and let it feature in your wedding stationery.
Use seashells, palm trees or fish as a part of your wedding design.
- Tie your invites with raffia or hessian to reflect the natural setting.
You could roll your invites in a scroll, or fold them and use raffia to fasten them.
- Send a message in a bottle as your destination wedding invitations.
Use parchment paper to give your invites an old fashioned look along with calligraphy
style writing.
Seal them up in small bottles and them send them to your guests. A cheaper option is to make your
paper invites in the shape of a bottle with the 'message' inside.
- Live close to the beach? Draw a heart in the sand and write your names
inside it. Take a photo and you have an instant postcard style invite. Cheap, simple and romantic!
Hawaii
Hawaii is a great place for a destination wedding. You can say your vows on the beach at sunset,
or alternatively at one of the many luxurious resorts. Hawaii is known for it's warm and welcoming
hospitality.
- Hawaii is known for beautiful sunsets. Use a sunset motif in your design,
or better yet visit a local beach and have a friend take a picture of you and your partner kissing
at sunset.
- Hawaii is full of bright colors. From it's tropical flowers, birdlife and
beautiful sunsets, everywhere you turn in Hawaii is bursting with color. Make your destination
wedding invitations just as bright with beautiful hues of turquoise, purple and pink.
- Love the lei? Decorate your invite with tropical flowers, or if you
are feeling creative you could glue a series of craft flowers in the shape of a lei to plain
card stock.
- For almost fifty years people have been traveling to Hawaii to surf.
If this is part of the reason you and your partner love Hawaii then let it show on your invite.
Show the perfect wave, a surfboard or even a picture of the two of you enjoying the beach lifestyle.
