Go Dotty With These Do It Yourself Wedding Invitations
“The vellum background of these do it yourself wedding invitations is really cute!”
I love the dotty, pearlescent vellum paper that used on these wedding invitations. The vellum background paper really brings these invitations to life. The addition of the simple beaded ribbon really sets of the invite, making simple, yet fun.Vellum papers change on a seasonal basis, but Papermania always do a good range of vellums with silver or pearlescent glitter, so if you couldn’t find this exact paper, then you could substitute it for an alternative. The same goes for the beads. If you can’t find the exact beads, these can also be substituted for different types. Don’t be afraid to try out different types of beads. Glass beads, pearls and silver beads will all work well with this do it yourself wedding invitations.
Level of ease: Moderately easy Cost: Around £50 ($90) for 50 invitations
For these do it yourself wedding invitations you’ll need: • Smooth white A5 card blank (that folds to A6) • Dotty pearlescent glitter vellum paper cut to A6 • 7mm wide white organza ribbon, cut to 20cm • 4 silver beads (or similar) • 3 pearlescent sequins • Wedding invitation greeting • Foam adhesive • Invisible vellum glue • White sticker
Recommended insert: Pearlescent vellum paper using a traditional insert template.
Step-by-step instructions1. First of all, cut the vellum to the correct size. The measurements and quantities above are for a A5 card blank folded to A6, so the finished size will be A6. Then use the invisible vellum glue to secure it to the card blank.
2. Next, take your piece of ribbon and cut one of the ends so it’s diagonal. Singe the end so the ribbon won’t fray. 3. Then tread a silver bead onto the ribbon, then a sequin, then a bead, then two sequins and then the last bead. Arrange them so there are different lengths between them. This will be more interesting visually.
4. Now, attach the ribbon to the card blank by ensuring that it’s pulled taut. Place it about 2.5cm from the centre fold and cut any excess ribbon off. You want no more than 2cm overlapping to the inside of the invite. Secure it with a white sticker. This leaves a clean finish.
5. Then take your wedding invitation greeting and attach a small amount of foam adhesive to the back of the greeting. Position it on the wedding invitation and press to secure.
