Easy Wedding Invitation

"Using a card topper creates a simple and easy wedding invitation"

Card toppers are a great way to finish off a wedding invitation. They come in so many different styles, shapes and designs – you’re bound to find one that fits your wedding theme. Not only that, but they’re so easy to use as well.

On their own, they can often be a bit plain. So by using a few simple layers of paper you can really add depth to your invite. With this invitation, I use a couple of extra layers that match the colours in the topper. It’s simple, easy and very quick to make.

Card toppers can range from 20p (40 cents) up to £1 ($2), depending on how elaborate they are. In this example, I use a topper from a set of four for £1. They’re all slightly different, but have similar colourings, so will all the invites will look part of the same family.

Easy wedding invitationLevel of ease: Really easy
Cost: Around £50 ($90) for 50 invitations

For this easy wedding invitation you’ll need:
• Card blank 4" x 6"
• Coloured paper to match a colour in the topper
• Shimmer paper
• Card topper
• Roller glue stick

• Silver invitation sticker

Step-by-step instructions

1. Measure the size of the folded card. Mine was 10cm x 15cm.

2. Take your coloured paper and cut out a piece measuring 9cm x 14m. Then secure it to the card blank with some roller glue.

3. Then take your shimmer paper and cut out a piece measuring 8.5cm x 13.5cm. Position it on top of the coloured paper and secure it in place with a little roller glue.

4. Attach four small squares (about 1cm wide) of foam adhesive on the back of the card topper.

5. Then position your card topper at the top of the shimmer paper. Secure it in place with some roller glue.

6. Finally, add an ‘invitation’ sticker to your card under the topper. These stickers also come in gold, so choose a colour that works best with your topper.

Tip: Only use small squares of foam adhesive at the corners of your toppers. This is enough to secure it and give it raised profile.
