First and foremost, think about your flowers. Typical flowers that are in season (and therefore cheaper) are hydrangea, roses, calla lilies, gerbera daisies and sunflowers. Hydrangeas and roses come in a wealth of different colors so you can be sure that you'll match your wedding colors. If you can't find the colors you're looking for, consider silk flowers which will give you a wider range of colors to choose from. You don't just have to go with fresh flowers. In this season, dried flowers look equally as nice and can make fabulous garlands, confetti and table decorations. Perhaps mix and match the types of flowers you use (dried and fresh) to create unique decorations. Also think about where you're placing your decorations. You don't just have to choose the usual places of tables or free standing decorations, you can also think about placing your arrangements at floor level in baskets, on windowsills and over doorways. Fall wedding flowers work particularly well when used in baskets, as garlands or wreaths.
Fruits are often used as fall wedding decorations. Vine leaves, bunches of grapes, apples, oranges and berries are frequently used in flower arrangements or simply on their own. When they're dried, they work particularly well with dried flowers and really bring the season to life. Bowls of fruit, either whole or cut up would also look great at table centerpieces or just as decorations around the room. Alternatively, you could use wood, plastic varieties or candles.
The great thing about a fall wedding is that it's easy to co-ordinate your colors, wedding décor and favors as there is so much choice and the colors all complement each other so well. So don't be afraid to mix and match – this is the perfect season to do it.
