Free Wedding Invitation Software

There are several free wedding invitation software packages that are excellent. They're perfect for creating your own wedding invitations and ideal for beginners as they tend to be quite basic packages. Nevertheless, they're still good and keep your costs down!

There are different packages that do different things. So whether you need to manage your images all in one place, edit your images, create graphics from scratch or use a simple desktop publishing package – there’s a free wedding invitation software package to help and below I outline the best available.

Manage and edit your pictures with Picasa

Google’s Picasa is a great tool for storing, managing and doing simple edits to your images and I highly recommmend it. It’ll pull all the images on your computer to one central point so you can manage them easily (so it'll be great for when you get all your wedding pics from friends and family!).

From this central location, which you access from your desktop, you can manage them by tagging them, renaming, moving them or editing them. It’s really easy as you can see all your images in one place and the thumbnails are actually quite big, so you don’t have to squint!

You can also do simple edits to your images like cropping, tinting, focusing, removing red eye etc. It’s a good solid, basic package for editing your pictures.

The tinting tool is really great as you can actually change the background colour of your images. So if you’re not quite happy with the colour of one of your digital downloads, you can just change it. Easy!

A simple graphics programme from Paint.net

Paint.net

I love Paint.net. It’s free to use and gives you all the tools you need to create your wedding invitations from scratch. It’s like a basic Paint Shop Pro, so you can retouch and manipulate pictures, create graphics from scratch and do invitation layouts. It’s a good solid package and excellent for freewedding invitation software.

I do a lot of my image manipulation in Paint.net. It’s easy to use and allows you to create layers so you can create different effects. There are also plenty of tools that you can use to create a particular look.

It’s more comprehensive than Picasa with all its tools, but because it’s more complicated, the learning curve is much steeper! As with any new software, it takes a few goes to get to know how it works. The good thing is there is a great help section and a forum so you can discover some really cool techniques.

You can download Paint.net for free here.

Alternatively, you could actually go for a free trial of Paint Shop Pro. Corel, the makers of Paint Shop Pro offer free trials of all their products. So if you want the real thing, then try a free trial here.

Simple desktop publishing to design your own wedding invitations

Free Serif downloads

You can also find free wedding invitation software in the form of desktop publishing. One such package is PagePlus SE from FreeSerifSoftware and they offer their older versions of the software for free.

They have a specific wedding pack to download which contains postcard size invitation templates, folded invitation templates as well as invites for the bachelor and bachelorette/hen parties. It’s perfect for simple wedding invitations based around colour ways and themes set by the template.

The software is very basic and the tools are limited, but if you don’t want a steep learning curve and you want to keep it simple, then this would be a great package for you. And, if you like the wedding pack, they also have an invitations pack and a greeting cards pack as well, so you can extend your creativity after the wedding.

So, if you’re making your own wedding invitations and you want a helping hand from some fancy packages, there are plenty of freewedding invitation software packages out there to help you. They’re all basic packages and great for beginners, but not so great if you want to more technical things or you’re likely to create more cards in the future.

If this is the case, then it’s time to spread your wings and invest in some good card making software. There are several packages that are great for card making, scrapbooking and making invitations, so check out these good card making packages.
