Fun Wedding Invitations With Silver Hearts
"It's raining confetti hearts with these fun wedding invitations"
These simple wedding invitations are made with silver metallic confetti hearts. They’re easy to make and really quick. You can get hold of the metallic confetti anywhere these days. I picked mine up in Tesco, but it’s easy to buy them online as well. You get loads of the hearts in a packet, so this invitation is not only easy, it’s very cheap too! I got the inspiration from my own wedding. I used these little metallic hearts as part of my table decorations. I think it makes a really nice touch if you start the confetti idea with the wedding invitations and then carry it through to your table decorations. It’s such a typical symbol of a wedding, everyone recognises it! I’ve then used silver pearlescent pre-scored cards which really set off the silver hearts. You could use white or black as well. These silver hearts also come in different colours. I’ve seen them in pink, red, white, black and gold, so you should be able to match them to your colour theme.
Level of ease: Moderately easy Cost:Around £25 for 50 invitations
For these fun wedding invitations you’ll need: • Silver pearlescent A5 card blank • Small silver confetti hearts, about 30 per invite • 3 pearlescent card die-cut hearts, 22mm at the widest point • Glitter fabric paint • Clear drying strong glue, like UHU • Silver elasticised thin cord
Recommended insert: Pearlescent vellum paper using a modern insert template.
Step-by-step instructions1. First of all, place the pearlescent hearts in position on the card blank. I’ve placed mine slightly tilted at an angle to make it look interesting. Then secure in them in place with some clear drying glue. If you can’t get hearts ready made as a die cut, then you could cut them out yourself with either a die cut tool or a pair of scissors. The scissor option is not the easiest and you may not end up with a good finish.
2. Then with the silver confetti hearts, I literally scattered them over the card. I wanted to make sure they were all at different angles. I then place a heart on each of the larger pearlescent hearts.
3. This is the tricky bit – sticking down all those hearts! I find UHU a bit stringy, but I like it, so I hold the little heart with a tweezers and dab it item on to the nozzle of the glue. (Alternatively, you could place a bit of glue on the underside of the heart with a cocktail stick). I then wind any stringy bits around in a circle so they break. It seems to work, but not always and so sometimes you may find a bit of glue ends up on your card or on the front of silver confetti heart. (I have a solution for this though...)
4. When you find there is a bit glue on the side of the silver confetti heart that is on view, just place a dab of glitter fabric paint on it. The fabric paint will dry clear and leave just the glitter, covering any gluey bits and looking all sparkly.
5. Finally, to finish off these fun wedding invitations, I’ve used some thin, silver elasticated cord. I’ve wrapped this around the centre of the card and tied the ends in a knot, cutting any excess cord off. I’ve just used this for a bit of decoration, but you can use it to secure an insert that is folded.
