Ideas For Homemade Wedding Favors

When you work out the cost of buying wedding favors for all of your guests it can be quite astounding, which is why homemade wedding favors take some of the worry away. Not only that, but they're an incredibly personal way to thank your guests for attending your wedding.

Sweet ideas for homemade wedding favors

One of the simplest and easiest ways to make your own wedding favors is to get baking. Truffles are easy to make, store for few days and generally loved by everyone. Who doesn't like chocolate? There are plenty of recipes for chocolate truffles out there including plain truffles, white chocolate truffles, brandy truffles, ginger truffles – is your mouth watering yet?

Along a sweet theme, you could choose a more traditional route and make your own candy. TheFoody.com has some great traditional candy recipes including treacle, fudge, peppermint creams and boiled sweets. Yum!

Think about how you're going to present them. If you're the crafty type then you'll thoroughly enjoy creating a box or bag to showcase your handiwork. For those less crafty, a simple way to present your favors is using a circle of tulle, placing the homemade wedding favors in the center, bunching up the edges and tying the tulle with ribbon. Simple.

Cookies are also favorite of DIY brides. Again, they can be made in advance, so you can make them in batches. You can also decorate them to match your color theme or write a personal message on each one by piping icing.

Candles make great homemade wedding favors too

Candle wedding favors

Candles are really versatile and make lovely wedding gifts for your guests. Tealights, for example can be presented in plain candle holders which you can then decorate yourself. Ribbon, paper, paint or other fabric can be used to decorate the holder.

You could also try making your own candles. TheFarm.org have lovely clear instructions on how to make your own candles and they're very easy to follow.

A simple homemade wedding favor is to give your guests a small candle wrapped in tulle and ribbon and finished off with a personal message. A simple, yet effective gift for your guests.

You could also roll up sheets of beeswax and roll the candles yourself. Finish them off with some ribbon for a country or fall theme wedding. /p>

Natural homemade wedding favors

Seed wedding favors

You can also look to nature for inspiration with seedlings or cuttings from your garden for lovely wedding favors. Present these in a pot and tie with ribbon and a tag with a handwritten 'thanks' for a personal gift for your guests to keep.

You could also use seeds from the garden. If you're using your own be sure to let your guests know what you've given them and the best conditions to grow them. They can then watch your seeds grow and blossom, just like your marriage.

If you're garden isn't quite up to providing enough seeds for all your guests, you can buy seed packets and split them up and then present as if they were your own. Try wrapping them in tulle or making your own little envelopes to wrap them in. Again, finish off with a personal message and growing instructions and your guests will love your green fingers!

Homemade wedding favors made with wire

For brides with a more crafty streak, then you could consider creating small gifts from wire. With a bit of practice you can use wire to create little photo holders, photo frames or little sculptures of a bride and groom. It's a really lovely way to say 'thank you for coming' as well as being reasonably cost effective, although it may take you a while to do them all.
