Help! I'm struggling to tie the perfect bow. Please can you help me. I don't want to use glue or have to stitch it together. I just want a nice plain and simple bow that I can repeat lots of times and that looks good.

To tie a bow isn't that difficult, it just takes practice. The method I use requires no stitching or gluing, so it is mess free. Here are some simple instructions on how to do it:

- Take a piece of long ribbon.

- Take the left hand tail over the right hand and hold the centre with your finger (picture 2).

- Make a loop using your left hand (picture 3).

- With your right hand take the other tail and wrap it over the loop (picture 4).

- Feed the tail under the loop, making another loop.

- Tighten by pulling the loops.

- You will need to adjust the loops to make them even and ensure the bow is secure.

- Cut the tails in a 'V' shape to prevent it fraying, alternatively singe them with a naked flame (be careful!).
