My Contemporary Wedding Invitations

I wanted some contemporary wedding invitations for my wedding, but they're all so expensive. I really thought I could make them myself, so I had a go and the results were good (I think!).

Using one of your templates as a base, I decided on a floral theme. I love rubber stamps, but I'm rubbish at using them. I've tried and tried and just can't get them to work, so I wanted something that would look like a rubber stamp, but that was much easier.

I found some beautiful wrapping paper which I'd used for a friends birthday. It had a lovely fabric pattern on it, and I thought I'd scan it in as it would be useful one day. It certainly was! It was perfect for my contemporary wedding invitations!

I coloured it red and chose a font that worked with it. Because the floral pattern on the paper was a fabric pattern, the edges of the scan were slightly feathered, making it look like it was a stamp. I then finished off the invite with a satin ribbon. I was really pleased with them and think they looked really professional. There were also really easy!

They were cheap too. The card was 5x7 which I cut from an A4 sheet. The A4 sheets were 30p each, so in total I spent £9 on card. The wrapping paper was £2.20. The printing ink I already had. The envelopes were £6 for the pack and the ribbon was £15 for about 30m!

I used the little flower motif on my programs, menus and thank you cards.
