Red Rose Wedding Invitation

“Create a pretty trellis of roses”

With this red rose wedding invitation, a simple twisting technique is used to create a trellis effect up the side of the invite. This creates a modern, but unique wedding invitation. It's also really easy to create, just follow the instructions below.

Red rose wedding invitationLevel of ease: Moderately easy
Cost: Around £50 ($90) for 50 invitations

For this red rose wedding invitation you’ll need:
• Small tall card blank 8cm x 19.7cm
• White angel hair 7cm x 18.5cm
• 8 open rose buds
• Wedding invitation greeting
• 2mm foam adhesive
• Glue roller

Recommended insert:
Pearlescent vellum paper using a modern insert template.

Step-by-step instructions

1. For the angel hair, cut the length of one side and tear the other three sides. This will give added texture to the card. Tip: angel hair is difficult to tear straight, so fold it to the right size and wet the fold. The angel hair will easily separate now and create a wispy edge.

2. When you’re happy with the size of the angel hair, secure the straight edge to the fold side of the card and the bottom edge too. There’s no need to glue the top or the right hand side of the angel hair. (You can often see glue through the angel hair, so best to only place it where it will be covered).

Twist the roses3. Next take the first rose in the hand and place the second rose bud half way down the first. Begin to twist the stems around each other so the two buds are linked.

4. Continue doing this until all 8 buds are linked together.

5. Next, cut two small pieces of foam adhesive and attach to the back of your greeting. Then secure the greeting in place on the card. Be sure to cover the bottom of the wire of the last rose in your trellis.

Tip: Angel hair is very thin and you can often see glue through vellum paper. You don’t need a lot of glue to secure it, so only use it in sections. There’s no need to glue along the entire edge.
