Red Wedding Invitations With A Wax Seal
“Wax seals and luscious satin ribbon make these red invitations simple gorgeous.”
These red wedding invitations are easy to make and made up of layers of card, a wax seal and a lovely satin ribbon. I really like them as they're so striking, yet they're really easy to make.To make these red wedding invitations, you simply cut out the paper and card to the right size and secure them to each other. The invite is finished off with wax seal and a wide satin ribbon for a luxurious feel. What's great about these invites is that you can personalise them with your own seal. Choose a motif, your initials or get one custom made just for your wedding!
Level of ease: Very easy Cost: Around £50 ($90) for 50 invitations
For each card, you’ll need: - Smooth A5 white card at 250gsm - Red card cut to 135mm x 195mm - White insert cut to 128mm x 175mm - Roller glue or double sided tape - Red sealing wax - Seal - Satin ribbon 25mm wide (or 1 inch) cut to 80cm
Before you start! Practice lots with your wax seal. I found it quite tricky to get it right and since practice makes perfect, it's worth practicing. It's easy to get burnt black wax in the seal and you need to work out the right amount of wax for the seal to full show. For the text on the vellum insert, I’ve used a special font called ASL Script, which is free for personal use. You’ll need to download it from www.freefonts.com. If you don’t know how to do this, then follow these instructions for adding a font to your computer (for windows users only). If you don’t do this, then you won’t be able to see the text on your computer. You can download the A5 template for this insert here, but you'll need the username and password that you get when you subscribe to the newsletter. You can subscribe below. The insert is an A4 sheet with two inserts on it, created in MS Word. They’re sized slightly smaller than A5, so sit well on or inside an A5 wedding invitation (finished size). You will need to amend the text so that it corresponds to the details of your wedding. Once printed out, you’ll need to cut it to size following the trim lines.
Tips: • Practice lots with the wax and seal to make sure you're confident and can repeat it over and over again. • Try buying an economy or bumper pack of card blanks and envelopes. You can then cut these in half to make the one page card! • You can easily change the size to 5x7 instead of A5, whichever is easier for you
