Funky Font & Bright Colours

"It's all quite trendy to have retro wedding invitations now. I love them!"

With a funky font, you can easily create retro wedding invitations. Here we've used a simple font that is found on most computers, so this should be easy to create for everyone.

By simply repeating the word 'wedding' over and over again, this invitation is filled with colour.

Reverse

On the reverse side of our retro wedding invitations, we've kept the retro style font for the names of the couple and then the main text is a modern sans-serif font. We've glammed it up a bit by adding a couple of jewels on the reverse. This gives is a modern twist.

We found it quite tricky to get both sides of this invite to print out just as we wanted it. So after a bit of experimentation, we resorted to printing out the invitation wording on high quality white paper and gluing it to the back of the card. Although not ideal, it was quite difficult to line it up. You may have better luck!

Level of ease: Easy
Cost: Around £25 ($40) for 50 invitations

What you'll need for this inexpensive wedding invitation:

  • White card cut to 4x6
  • 4 colour co-ordinating jewels
  • Inkjet or laser printer

We set up a page in Paint.net to do this. You simply set the size of the image and ensure that it is 300dpi. Then using the type setting, insert the words of your choice in the font of your choice. We've made it easy for you and created this as a jpeg image so you can simply insert it onto your card. Just download it below.

I'd recommend printing out on 'smooth' bright white card as this will give the best finish.

Warning!

The font used on this invitation is Fortuna Dot, which you should have on your home computer. If you don't have it on your home computer, you can use an alternative font for the wording. Just select one from Word, or download a free font.

These wedding invitations have been created in Microsoft Word 97-2003, so you'll need this to read and amend the invite.

With these retro wedding invitations there's no need for a separate insert. The important details are printed on the invite. You can however include details about accommodation, transport, maps etc in the envelope with the invite.
