Elegant Tulle Wedding Decorations
Tulle wedding decorations really make your wedding reception look stylish and elegant, without too much effort. Not only that, but tulle as a fabric is inexpensive, easy to use and versatile. It's a perfect match for a wedding.
Tulle is simply netting. It's a lightweight fabric that comes in a variety of colors that is often used for wedding veils, netting underskirts, wedding dresses and favor bags. You can get different grades with different additions such as glitter, ribbon, embroidery and sparkles. It comes in different widths, so you can easily create layers of colors and fabric to give depth to your decorations and bring in accent colors. For example, use white colored tulle as a base and then add a 6 inch wide colored tulle as a bow to create an accent color. With tulle wedding decorations, you can really go to town. They work just about anywhere including outdoors and indoors, making it a really versatile way to decorate your wedding. Here some ideas:
Indoor tulle wedding decorations
- If you've got rows of seats, then tying some tulle at every other chair end is a really pretty way to spruce up your seating.
- You can also use it on the backs of chairs instead of full chair covers.
- Add a tulle bow to your chair covers for splash of color.
- Use it as a garland around doorways.
- Decorate the edge of tables with a garland to make a pretty edging. You could also include fairy lights entwined with the fabric for a really sparkly affect.
- Use it as a base to line unsightly or dull walls.
- Create a ceiling canopy with it.
- Use it around pillars to add texture.
Don't forget, tulle comes in a variety of different colors, so be sure to mix and match colors. You don't have to use all white.
Tulle wedding decorations outdoors You don't have to stop your tulle décor indoors; there are plenty of places outdoors where you can use it too:
- Create a garland around a doorway. You could intersperse silk flowers, butterflies or other embellishments within it to match it to your theme.
- Wrap it around trees and finish with a bow. This is a perfect addition to a freestanding bay tree.
- Decorate your canopy with tulle if you're getting married outdoors.
- Add a bow to the gate or entrance of your wedding.
- Use it to wrap around fencing or attach to hedgerows.
Tulle is often used to decorate favors as well. It makes a great little bag to put small favor gifts in and is easily assembled. You can buy ready made tulle circles to place your gifts in, so you just need to tie it with a matching ribbon to secure it.
You don't have to keep your tulle simple (although sometimes less is more), you can add to it as well. Diamante, silk flowers, fresh flowers, satin ribbons and glitter can all be attached easily - for fabrics and stones use a hot glue gun and for fresh flowers use wire. You can also use glitter spray to add a touch of sparkle!
Tying and securing tulle bows The best way to tie a bow with tulle is to gather up equal sized loops. Once you have about 6-10 loops, depending on how big you want your bow to be, secure it with wire. Make sure you leave two lengths to dangle beneath the bow. For chair backs, wrap the fabric around the chair a couple of times and then tie in a simple bow.
