Unique Wedding Invitations Using Vellum and Bird Illustration

"These inexpensive wedding invitations are simple to make, but look amazing!"

Instead of the cute bird illustration found on Twitter's pages, we've chosen a more sophisticated, illustrated version. It's grown up, stylish and bang on trend.

To create these unique wedding invitations, we've simply used a free illustration that can be downloaded for use. We've printed a couple of the birds on the vellum and then a larger one on the white background card with the wording. The layer of vellum over the card make the invite sophisticated.

This invitation is a free template that comes in MS Word, so you can easily print it out at home or work. I've printed this example out on white card stock. You can however print it out on any coloured card stock, so feel free to try out different colours.

What you'll need for these unqiue wedding invitations:

• A4 sheet of white vellum
• A4 sheeto f white card
• Black organza ribbon: 20cm per invite, 3cm wide
• Hole punch
• Paper trimmer
• Inkjet or laser printer
• ALS Script Font (download)
• Swallow image from www.arthursclipart.org (download)

For each sheet of A4 paper or card, there are 3 invitations. The colours in the template are black. You can change the fonts, the font size or the spacing. The templates are a guide only.

You could easily use the bird image from the wedding invitation on your other stationery. I would recommend only use one swallow as I think it will look better.

The main font used for the text is called ALS Script and is free for your personal use. You can download it here.

These unique wedding invitations have been created in Microsoft Word 97-2003, so you'll need this package to read and amend the invite.

It couldn't be simpler to download and create this invitation.

1. Just click on the links below to download the templates. You'll be prompted for a username and password. You received these when you confirmed your subscription to the newsletter
2. If your username and password are correct, then the MS Word document will download automatically. Save it to your desktop
3. Ensure you have the correct fonts saved to your computer (see above)
4. When you have your templates, edit the wording. Print the wording sheet on the highest quality setting of your printer.
5. Print out the second template: the vellum layer. Print this out on a draft setting. Vellum can't cope with too much ink.
6. Then, trim the invites to size. There are three invites per sheet of A4 paper.
7. Lay the vellum on top of the card. Check that both the vellum and the card are the same size. If not, trim as necessary.
8. Punch two holes on the left hand edge.
9. Thread your organza ribbon through the holes and make a bow.
