Vellum Wedding Invitation With Butterfly Print
"By using a stunning vellum paper, you can make a beautiful wedding invitation"
This vellum wedding invitation is only as good as the vellum paper looks. With this particular invite, I've used a vellum paper printed with an ivory butterfly print. It's the print that makes the wedding invitation.
This vellum is from Papermania and is a special scrapbooking design, but you could use any patterned vellum paper for scrapbooking. I really like vellum papers as they give a delicate effect to your wedding invitation.
This vellum wedding invitation is particularly easy to create as well, so you don't need spend several weekends making your own wedding invitations! You'll be able to get them done in a day or less.
For each card, you'll need:
- Smooth A5 white card at 250gsm
- Printed vellum paper cut to A5
- Ivory matching ribbon, 12mm wide 20cm in length
- Hole punch
- Printer
Before you start!
Buy your bits of paper and vellum and see if you like the effect that's created. You don't have to stick with the colours I've used. Feel free to mix and match different vellums and papers to get the look you want or to match your own wedding theme.
For the text on this invite, I’ve used a special font called ASL Script, which is free for personal use. You’ll need to download it from www.getfreefonts.info. If you don’t know how to do this, then follow these instructions for adding a font to your computer (for windows users only).
Tips:
- Do a trial run to find the card and vellum paper you like.
- Try buying an economy or bumper pack of card blanks and envelopes. You can then cut these in half to make the one page card!
- You can easily change the size to 5x7 instead of A5.
To make your vellum wedding invitation:
- Download the font as mentioned above and create your wedding wording.
- When you're happy, print it out onto the A5 card. I used a mid grey so the invite would look softer.
- Cut the vellum to size.
- Lay the vellum over the card and punch two holes in the top at the centre. These should be about 1cm from the top of the card.
- Secure the vellum to the card by tying a ribbon through the holes and making a bow.
