Contemporary and Modern
Wedding Invitation Wording Examples

These wedding invitation wording examples can be used with more informal or modern wedding invitations. The tone of your invite will set the tone of your wedding, so carefully select what you want to say and how you say it.

Modern wordingWith informal invitations you drop the titles (Mr and Mrs) and the language becomes more familiar. They also tend to speak of ‘love’ or ‘commitment’, rather than ‘marriage’ and ‘ceremony’.

Changing the language slightly in this way, but keeping the same format can really change the style and tone of your invite.

The examples below are fairly standard, however your wedding invitation wording doesn’t have stick with convention. I’ve seen wedding invites that are a poem about the couple!

One example started: There’s a party on the hill do you wanna come? My mum and dad are getting hitched... The children then went on draw a picture of their mum and dad in wedding outfits on a hill. The invites and the wording were charming and something I’ll always remember.

So you don’t necessarily have to stick with these wedding invitation wording examples, try something different or something from your heart – it will make your day even more memorable.
