Winter Wedding Invitation

We got married in February and since it was pretty cold, we decided on a winter theme. We had lots of sparkly stuff about and focused on silver and white. I also added a bit of teal for a splash of colour.

It took a few days to make the wedding invitations. There was lots of printing out and cutting up! They were made using pre-folded cards. I printed a design on a front and then glued an insert inside.

First of all we designed the insert by laying out the text. This was pretty easy. I simply used Microsoft Word and set up two text boxes on an A4 sheet. I wrote the details in the text boxes and then used the outline of the text box as a cutting guide. I used a font I found by doing search on fontspace.com. They've got loads of lovely free fonts. The two fonts I used were Blackjack and then a modern one that comes with Word.

For the front of the invitation, I found an image of a seed, which I repeated in different sizes. Over the top I wrote the word 'wedding' in large letters. This font matched the font on the inside. After it had printed out, I had the tedious task of adding glitter to each card. I used a bit of pva glue and some glitter, but it would have much quicker with a bit of glitter glue, although the effect would have been different.

I was pleased with the end result. It fitted my theme.

Total cost was very little. The paper and glue I already had. A pack of pre-folded cards and envelopes was less than £5. The glitter was about £2 per jar and I used two jars. Less than £10 - bargain!
